Day 7 and 8

Day 7....was stupid, Cause I was sick!

I'm still not well, sore throat comes and goes, general not feeling good - again, that part said I'm not feeling great physically most of the time anymore.

Saturday (day8) we started with lunges.

  • pop the knee forward
  • move foot out and a little to the side
  • then, keeping back back, move forward and back
It wasn't too difficult to grasp, but I'm still having issues with back back - as will be evidenced here shortly.

After learning basic lunge we went outside to walk. We started in the back yard but the sprinklers kept coming on at intervals - poor S - her notebook got drenched sitting in 2 different places because the sprinklers got it every time she moved it!

So, we ended up out in front of the house on the sidewalk. It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

We each took turns walking and then we all made our observations. It was interesting, even though each of us have been involved in AT for a number of years we still all had issues. Mine was not being in my back enough - still. I'm MUCH better than I was 3 years ago when I started working but still, I'm all head forward and go go go go go

C had me walk backwards very carefully and slowly to feel my back "lead." Then walking forward again, keeping my back back. It felt much quieter in my body and everyone commented on how much smoother I looked when I moved. It's really remarkable how it works.

After we all walked and evaluated we went back in for break. There was a lot of talk about why we are where we are and our passion for why we're in the program. C then made an assignment - we have to create an activity to bring people to our passion. I'm totally lost. I have NO idea how to do this - none of them are really instrumentalists so I have no clue where to start or what to do. I'm glad my time to present isn't until next Saturday, that way I can watch the others and go from there. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to get much help in what to do even by watching.....

The end of our discussion was punctuated by this statement from C-
" AT helps you create the conditions in which you can flourish"

Pretty much appropriate - similar to Peak Flow talked about by Czikszentmihalyi  - I think anyway.

We closed by learning a rowing exercise that incorporated lunge....I need to practice it....
